Our (lovely) damp warm weather, is just the kind of conditions that fungi need to produce fruiting bodies or mushrooms. I was lucky enough to find a handfull of Chantarelles on July 1st and it looks like there will be plenty more by mid july. Field mushrooms are proboubaly appearing too. I will go hunting later today.
The next walk will be a mushroom walk in the Slieve blooms on Sat Aug 11th, followed by lunch and chat, swopping recipies etc. Meanwhile I am botteling the beech leaf booze which is very promising and gathering the last of Elderflowers.
